Final Offer - Lauren Asher (Dreamland Billionaires)

Final Offer is the third and the last book in the series of Dreamland Billionaires by the bestselling author Lauren Asher.

Well, well, well...Dreamland Billionaires is worth a read. It has been a tremendous series appertaining to the Will of Brady Kane and how it turns the lives of all four alive men of his family upside down. Before actually commenting anything about the third book in the series, let me pen down some generals that I've been thinking across these three books.

The main character in each book is obviously one of Brady Kane's grandson - to begin with Rowan (the youngest), Declan (the eldest) and finally Callahan (the middle one). The stories revolve around the task, rather the arduous task assigned to each one of them for them to be able to secure their inheritance and position in the Kane Company; with one common antagonist - Seth Kane - the son of Brady Kane and the father of these three lead characters in their respective stories exotically narrated across each book.

We learn how Seth changed for the bad after the death of his loving wife and inflicted pain and suffering to the three boys while they were growing up. He normalized constant drinking and physical and mental abuse all the time for his own sons.

Declan the eldest takes charge of his younger brothers and protects them from their father's wreak, himself taking on all the suffering. It is like a goal for all the three brothers to ensure they don't become like their father, but their stories clearly reveal how a part of their father had already seeped into their veins and how each of them not just realized their pattern, but worked hard towards changing it and developing into the hero of the story. Well, a lot of thanks goes to the girls in their lives for being clear and firm enough to not give in to their shortcomings and helping their heroes to rise to their real stature.

The love amongst the three brothers is worth the read and there is enough to keep the reading interesting and engaging all the time.

Some of my favorite lines from the book are listed here:
"That's the thing about Cal. He can make anyone forget that they're angry with him solely by cracking a joke and flashing a smile. It is his greatest superpower and my personal kryptonite." - Alana

"Procrastinating never gets you anything but trouble." - thinks the god of procrastination - Callahan

"You always deserved better than me." - Cal
"No. I deserved better from you." - Lana

"No expectations. No disappointments.
My life motto." - Callahan

"Kill them with kindness, Mom used to say." - Callahan

"Get drunk on life, not alcohol
Love,
Lana"

"Its the people we love most who always hurt us the hardest." - Alana

"Anything for you, he said when he broke his arm trying to get a kite out of a tree.
Anything for you, he grumbled after picking me up early from my very first date with Pete Darling.
Anything for you, he brokenly whispered after I made him promise to never come back to Lake Wisteria." - Lana

The intricate plot begins at the Lake house in Lake Wisteria, somewhere late in the night when Callahan tries to unlock the house and enter scaring away Alana to the extent that she is pointing a gun in his direction. An emotionally powerful, yet delicate situation bringing the past lovers back - face to face at this late hour of the night.

Theirs is a love since childhood. It was customary of them spending their summers together at the lake house and with time the platonic love transformed into a more real and mature love. But our hero is an outright addict who sought after numbing himself with vodka to bear the pain of his father's abusive remarks and overcome his low self-esteem. He was an expert in hiding being high in such an ingenious way that no one would know the truth. It was only very late when his brothers and his grandpa learn about him being a hophead that they help him with a rehab. But all in vain because he was deft enough to fool others. Basically, he was like the black sheep of the family, from whom no one had any expectations and who was always considered as a moral responsibility of all the others in the family to take care of. Callahan, as a personality had come to believe himself as a good-for-nothing and had already given up on himself far more than the others in his family. All because, the one small beam of being a good hockey player too was snatched away by his accident and him being removed from his championship tournament. Only person in the world who knew his goods was Alana, whom he shooed far away from himself, thinking she deserved better and thus, broke her heart.

Alana, on the other hand is a cheerful girl, all obedient and loving kind of. She was brought to Lake Wisteria by her mother after their father all of a sudden left them and her mother moved to Lake Wisteria from Columbia. She had drawn the passion for baking from her mother and cherished a dream of opening her own bakery one day on the Main Street. She has a bunch of her own challenges with her elder sister being an addict herself. After her mother she is left to take care of her addicted sister who all the time ensures Alana's life is filled with enough challenges. To the extent that she hooks up and gets herself pregnant, abandons her pre-maturely delivered baby turning a twenty-three year old Alana into a full-time mother. But Alana doesn't fail anyone, she rises to the occasion and nurtures her daughter Camila very well. Works as a Spanish teacher in the school and caters to all her child's need with all the inheritance received from Brady Kane used up by her addicted sister.

The story intricately revolves around Cal's return to sell the lake house to avail his part of the inheritance and Alana trying her best to be an obstacle into his path. The varied incidents only aid in reviving their bond of love again and how they both help each-other over come their fears and restore their faith in their strong and true love.

The story has enough chunk of connecting plots from the previous two books and the sub-plots to keep the reader entertained and charmed.

I highly recommend this series to all those who relish contemporary romances with a tinge of nostalgia and most importantly love the fairy-tale Happy Endings!

Happy Reading until I come back with one more book review...

Terms And Conditions - Lauren Asher (Dreamland Billionaires)

The second book in the series of Dreamland Billionaires by Lauren Asher.  "its not too late to start making better decisions" "why would she stay? You never gave her a good reason to after the way you spoke to her." "Ya'aburnee" "I'll give you anything you want - anything at all - so long as you give me a chance to make you as happy as you make me. A dog. A family. A home. I want it all. These are my terms and conditions , take it or leave it because I'm not open to negotiations." Could there be a relationship with Terms and Conditions applied to? In the current century this question wouldn't trigger even a fraction of surprise or shock in anyone. Probably with digitalization and artificial intelligence taking over almost all walks of our lives, it is only considered normal to think about conditionality in all spheres - seems like human behaviour and relationships are being re-crafted by AI ensuring a step-by-step clear process ma...

It Ends with Us & It Starts with Us - Book Reviews

It Starts with Us is a sequel of Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us! Both are super romances depicting the wonderful character disposition of Lily Bloom. Lily is not won over by her circumstances and grows up to fulfil his dream of owning her own business in Boston - the city of her dreams or like Lily and Atlas put it - where everything is better! It Ends with Us is a captivating, intense love story between Lily Bloom a young business woman and the charming Ryle Kincaid - the neurosurgeon. It is by chance that Allysa walks into Lily's flower shop and offers to help Lily and gets hired on the spot. Love Redesigned - Book Review

Hey...this one was read by me a long long ago, but missed writing my review for it. Hence, I re-read it and here I'm after an arresting, stirring, absorbing and riveting experience having had again. This is one of the Lakefront Billionaires written by the international best selling author - Lauren Asher!  It is this book that made me read more of Lauren Asher.     Built around the scenic Lake Wisteria, this story is all about nostalgia. The un-modernized Historic District, Festival Fair Grounds, Founder's House and beautiful farms and main city. It's here that the protagonists grow up and then kind of loose touch due to a sequence of enticing events that take place in their lives. Julian Lopez and Dahlia Munoz have been crafted with a lot of creativity and detail. While both have been schoolmates and family friends growing up together and pranking each other, life brings a digression and both are moved distant from each other. Dahlia continues to pursue college, but...
